Lead Weights for All Your Sewing Needs! / Hat of the Day Sketch – William Chambers, 2009-2010 collection

April 22, 2010

I have to share this little snippet of history with you.  I was digging through my grandma’s sewing chair tonight and found this:

lead weights - front

lead weights - back

I don’t know about you, but I’m glad someone realized that wearing lead weights anywhere near your body probably isn’t a good idea.  I had to laugh out loud when I found it, though.  It’s amazing to see how our perceptions of everyday things change over time.

Hat of the Day Sketch

Today’s HOTD is a sleek leopard print velour fedora (or trilby for those outside of America) by William Chambers Millinery’s Autumn/Winter 2009-2010 collection.  This gorgeous gal is trimmed with chocolate brown petersham ribbon (millinery grosgrain) and red spiky feathers on a pad connecting at the hat band.  It’s such a timeless look and could be dressed up or down.  I think I feel some drool on my chin….

As always, please feel free to comment on this post below.  If you like what you see here, subscribe to this blog for more great millinery stuff!
